The Metropolitan Opera, more popularly referred to simply as “The Met,” is a company out of New York City that was founded in the year 1880 as an alternative opera house to the Academy of Music. The Metropolitan Opera is the biggest classical music organization of the whole of North America and showcases around 27 unique operas each year during the season, which runs from late September to the following May.
