The Wally Pontiff Jr. classic was established as a way to remember a baseball player from Louisiana State University who passed away in July 2002 from a genetic heart disease. He attended Louisiana State University and was a popular and talented player. This game aims to give back to the community to honor Pontiff Jr.’s commitment to his community and holds two annual fundraisers, the classic being included, in which the proceeds go to benefit non-profit organizations and local charities.
